Datin Zaharah Kechik, wife to Selangor Dato' Menteri Besar , brought Hari Raya cheer to 200 disabled inmates of Taman Sinar Harapan at Kuala Kubu Bharu this morning, presenting them with hampers and ang pows.
The visit is one in a series of visits Datin Zaharah is making to homes and orphanages with Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH) during the festive season.
Taken on a tour of the hostels in the home, Datin Zaharah was especially taken up by the activities the inmates are engaged in despite being handicapped. Aside from sewing and handicraft work, some take up gardening to help beautify their hostel.
The inmates' excitement was evident as they enthusiastically presented a song routine to their VIP guest. A senior inmate also demonstrated a painting using his foot.
Also as part of her Mesra Rakyat programme and SPLASH's community programmes, Datin Zaharah said she was happy that corporations have not forgotten the unfortunate and needy, especially during the festive seasons.

Over 70 inmates of Taman Seri Puteri gave Datin Zaharah Kechik, wife to Selangor Dato' Menteri Besar, a VIP welcome when she visited them at their home this morning. The visit was part of her Mesra Rakyat programme to get to know the rakyat and also in view of the coming Hari Raya festivities.
Datin Zaharah's interest in children, especially the needy and unfortunate, has given her reason to visit Taman Seri Puteri and to know of the service they provide in helping to rehabilitate underaged girls from misguided activities.
Puan Zakiah Haji Hasan, Superintendent of Taman Seri Puteri briefed Datin Zaharah and Encik Azmi Mat Nor, Chief Executive Officer of Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH) on the activities of the home and how they try to help inmates return to the right path.
SPLASH presented sets of the Quran, computer and printer and hampers to Puan Zakiah for use of the inmates. Visitors were taken on a tour of the home and classes the inmates were attending. The girls are taught computer, cooking and sewing lessons.
