- The proposed regulating dam site and impoundment areas are mainly logged over forests and do not encroach onto any ecologically sensitive areas
- No plant species will be threatened with extinction as a result of this project
- The proposed impoundment area is poor in wildlife due to hunting pressure from the Orang Asli communities
- No endangered or endemic species of terrestrial fauna is expected to be threatened with extinction by this proposed project
- During dry season, the river water quality is expected to improve because of the large release from the dam to dilute the polluted water from its tributaries
- During wet season,
- the river water quality is expected to be slightly poorer as water from the dam catchment is being held back for storage
- the impact is considered insignificant
- Allowance has been made in the design for dam siltation without affecting the water storage capacity for 100 years
- It was recommended to gazette the dam catchment as water catchment area to reduce the effect of siltation
- The regional geology of the dam site is predominantly made up of granite and allied rocks
- Preliminary tests conducted indicated the bedrock formation is sound and tight
- The reservoir is designed not to fail by taking into account very high safety factors - including consideration of potential earthquake activities and review by overseas independent dam safety reviewer
- The failed dam in the vicinity in early days is a tin tailing dam built by miners more than 100 years ago
